11 Players Who Stole A Living From Manchester United
10. Dong Fangzhuo
Remember him? Dong Fangzhuo was the first Chinese player ever to be signed by United when he agreed to move to Old Trafford in 2004 (coincidentally, around the same time as Liam Miller) but because of problems over attaining a work permit, the striker failed to even arrive at Old Trafford and join up with the squad until 2006. He impressed out on loan at feeder club Royal Antwerp, taking a couple of seasons to bed in but finishing as the club's top scorer after hitting 18 goals in 30 appearances in the 2005/06 season. Having finally been brought to Old Trafford he failed to impress, eventually leaving Manchester for footballing obscurity - playing at the likes of Portimonense, Mika and his current club Hebei Zhongji - a far cry from the bright lights of Old Trafford. Dong even made 13 appearances for China between 2005 and 2007, though perhaps this signing from Sir Alex was more of a marketing ploy to sell some more shirts. But they'll never admit that.
