11 Players Who Stole A Living From Manchester United
6. Gabriel Obertan
Remember David Bellion from earlier in this list? Well, Gabriel Obertan was effectively a carbon copy of him who managed to flounder just as badly a few years later. Signing in 2009, Obertan was blessed with pace and given the opportunity to impress at Old Trafford, but he failed to make the most of his chance. The French winger arrived from Bordeaux despite his once promising reputation taking something of a nose dive, incidentally just before United snapped him up. He signed a four-year deal for around £3 million, though he turned out to be yet another of Fergie's duds. Obertan is now struggling to make an impression in Newcastle's French Revolution, since signing for the Magpies from United in 2011. He's still only 25 though, so maybe he can have some kind of career revitalisation - though that's probably unlikely at Premier League level.
