Iscos number 22 shirt now he has left for Real Madrid, I have put together a team of players who have had their shirt number retired at a club. On Tuesday the 25th June 2013 Malaga owner Abdullah N Al Thani tweeted:
Shirts no. 22 will not be available to any other player in the Malaga CF courtesy to the player Isco. T
The news came as quite a surprise as the 21-year-old leaves Malaga after only two years at the club making 69 appearances. The team I have picked will play in a 3-4-3 formation. So let's begin...
Goalkeeper:Dale Roberts
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZJDrX5rF5E The former Rushden & Diamonds goalkeeper had his number one shirt retired by the club after he committed suicide in December 2010 while still playing for the Northamptonshire side. Roberts made 103 appearances for Rushden & Diamonds and was voted their player of the season in 2009.
Centre-back:Paolo Maldini
After 25 years and 902 appearances for AC Milan, Paolo Maldinis number three shirt was retired when he retired in 2009. Although, his shirt is not fully retired as Maldini has given consent for his sons to use the number three shirt if either of them go on to play professionally for Milan.
Centre-back:Franco Baresi
Another Milan defender to have his shirt number retired is Franco Baresi. Number six was retired after Baresi spent 20 years at the club and made 719 appearances. The Italian was also voted AC Milan Player of the Century in 1999.
Centre-back:Bobby Moore
West Ham retired Moores number six shirt in 2008, 15 years after he had passed away. Moore played for West Ham 544 times during a 16-year spell and is also the only England captain to ever lift the World Cup.
