11 Spurs Signings Who Were Absolute Bargains

10. David Ginola

David Ginola signed for Spurs for just £2.5 million from Newcastle United in 1997. He won his only trophy in English football with the White Hart Lane club in the 1-0 1999 League Cup final victory over Leicester City.

During his time at Spurs, he was named as the PFA Players€™ Player of the Year and the FWA Footballer of the Year. The Frenchman also scored one of the most memorable goals of modern times in the white of Spurs, when his jinking run past an army of Barnsley players ended with him finishing crisply in to the left side of the net in a 1999 FA Cup tie.

All in all, Ginola spent three years at Spurs, playing 100 games in the Premier League - all of which came from the start - and scoring thirteen league goals. He is generally known as one of the best and most exciting performers to have turned out for the club in recent times.

Spurs made a half a million profit on Ginola - despite the fact that he was 33 years old at the time - selling him to Everton in the year 2000, much to the player€™s own chagrin. He expressed his disappointment at his sale, stating that it was a €œbombshell€ to him when Spurs accepted the Toffees€™ offer, as he obviously enjoyed his football at the club.
