11 Spurs Signings Who Were Absolute Bargains
7. Paul Robinson
Prior to the arrival of current number one Hugo Lloris, Paul Robinson was the most consistent of Tottenham Hotspurs goalkeepers in the Premier League era.
Robinson made 137 league starts for Spurs and even scored a goal against Watford on one occasion and he played a further 38 times in other competitive games. He won the League Cup with Spurs in the 2-1 victory over Chelsea in 2008.
In his four year spell at White Hart Lane, he cemented his place as Englands number one goalkeeper (although he had played previously for his country in his time at Leeds United) and played for the Three Lions at World Cup 2006 in Germany during that time.
Costing just £1.5 million when he arrived from Elland Road, he really was a bargain and that is emphasised more so when you consider that Blackburn Rovers paid £3.5 million for his services in 2008 (plus, even without his top level performances for the club, he provided value for his cost through entertainment with his crowd-rousing anti-Arsenal chants).
