Age: 50 Nationality: English Clubs Managed: Newcastle United (caretaker, 2004), Leeds United (caretaker, 2004), Toronto FC (2008-09), Sheffield United (caretaker, 2010), Newcastle United (caretaker, 2015), Newcastle United (interim, 2015-) Managerial Honours: None Newcastle supporters need no introduction to the man currently in the interim hotseat - with John Carver having taken charge from Alan Pardew, originally on a caretaker basis, at the turn of the year. The 50-year-old former Newcastle academy player was Sir Bobby Robson's assistant coach, and he was placed in caretaker charge of the Magpies in 2004. Having performed a similar role at Leeds United, where he won just one out of five matches, he became Toronto FC boss in February 2008. During 14 months in Canada, Carver won 12 of 40 matches but left in April 2009, claiming he was not being backed adequately by the board. After taking caretaker charge of Sheffield United in December 2010, Carver was brought back to Tyneside by Alan Pardew in January 2011 - and was the Londoner's assistant for four years. Placed in temporary charge in January, Carver has overseen 20 games since - but he won just three, and lost 13 of them, including a 10-match winless run that nearly sent the Magpies down. Carver took charge when the Magpies were on 26 points and mid-table, but they plummeted down the table and had to claim victory on the final day of the season to ensure their top-flight status - although he still desperately wants the role. Hopefully his disastrous interim reign has ruled him out of being a real contender for the permanent job though...
