12 Champions League Winners Who Played For Newcastle

7. Frank Clark

Played For NUFC: 1962 - 1975 Appearances: 464, Goals: 0 Won Champions League: 1979, Nottingham Forest It took a move away from Newcastle for Clark to win the sole major trophy of a distinguished career that took in 13 years and 464 appearances in black and white. He left St James' Park with nothing to show for his efforts when Brian Clough came knocking in 1975 with a proposal to join a vibrant Nottingham Forest side after being released on a free transfer. Our loss was inevitably to Forest's gain and four years later his decision to move to the City Ground would be justified when Old Big Ead led Forest to their first European Cup triumph courtesy of a 1-0 over FC Malmo at the Olympiastadion in Munich. Clark started the final at left-back and, at 35, finally had the major honour he deserved.
