12 Newcastle Players Who Returned For A Second Spell On Tyneside

8. Nolberto Solano

First Spell (1998-2004): League Appearances: 182 League Goals: 37 Second Spell (2005-07): League Appearances: 58 League Goals: 8 One of the most-successful second stints as a player at Newcastle United, that's for sure. Whenever Nolberto Solano is mentioned by a Newcastle fan, they do so with a smile - because the little Peruvian was simply majestic at times. A member of Sir Bobby Robson's thrilling Champions League side, Nobby Solano and Laurent Robert would occupy either wing and deliver pinpoint crosses and set-pieces to the likes of Alan Shearer and Craig Bellamy. Having signed for Newcastle for just shy of £2.5 million in 1998, Solano made 182 Premier League appearances and scored 37 goals - many of them memorable - before he left for Aston Villa for £1.5 million in 2004. However, just 18 months later Solano was back on Tyneside for the same price for which he was sold - and he once again proved to be a hit, scoring eight goals in a further 58 league appearances. Since retiring Solano has moved into coaching - and he continues to play the trumpet for his own Salsa band, "The Geordie Latinos".
