12 Newcastle Players Who Returned For A Second Spell On Tyneside

9. Pavel Srnicek

First Spell (1991-98): League Appearances: 150 Second Spell (2006-07): League Appearances: 2 He may not be a Geordie by birth, but Pavel Srnicek is so loved by Newcastle fans that he even has his own chant: "Pavel is a Geordie". The Czech goalkeeper played for the Magpies between 1991 and 1998, and then again briefly in in 2006, and he became adored by the Toon faithful. A total of 113 Premier League appearances arrived for another one of Kevin Keegan's Entertainers - and that is one of the many reasons why "Pavel is a Geordie". However, when he returned during the 2006-07 season Srnicek was merely third choice behind both Shay Given and Steve Harper - despite having enjoyed a thrilling battle with Shaka Hislop for the No 1 jersey during the 1990s. A wonderful character, and also a very good goalkeeper. He may not have played much during his second stint on Tyneside, but Srnicek's infectious personality certainly had a positive impact on the Magpies squad.
