12 Newcastle Successes (And 12 Failures) Scouted By Graham Carr
2. Remy Cabella
Signed: 2014 (from Montpellier) Transfer Fee: £12 million Position: Playmaker/Attacking-Midfielder Newcastle United Appearances: 34 (2014-) Newcastle United Goals: § Current Club: Newcastle United He has certainly not justified his £12 million price tag - and he has even become the source of many supporters' frustrations - but Cabella has shown the odd flashes of brilliance in his first Newcastle season that hopefully he can build on for the next campaign. Lightweight and far-too easily knocked off the ball, Cabella has been unable to regularly impose his silky skills and creative ability on Premier League matches. However, for his brilliant first-half away at Chelsea, his great display at Hull City, his good performance against Arsenal, and just generally because he has been a rare creative spark (alongside Ayoze Perez) in an abject Newcastle side going forward, Cabella does not get wholly written off. He must improve for next year though and start to prove he can be a star in the making though. Cabella has proven he does have at least some ability this season, but again Carr failed to meet his manager's demands. Pardew simply didn't fancy Cabella and that's why he didn't play him - so why was Carr recruiting him in the first place, especially for a £12 million fee? Signing Rating: 2.5
