12 Newcastle Successes (And 12 Failures) Scouted By Graham Carr

8. Moussa Sissoko

Signed: 2013 (from Toulouse) Transfer Fee: £1.5 million Position: Midfielder Newcastle United Appearances: 94 (2013-) Newcastle United Goals: 11 Current Club: Newcastle United
He may be frustrating at times but Sissoko, on his day, can tear opposition defences to shreds by running at them with pace and power. The 28-cap Frenchman has scored 11 goals in 94 Magpies appearances - which really isn't enough for a player of his quality - but often those strikes have proved crucial, the most notable of them being his headed winner against West Ham United on the final day of the 2014-15 Premier League season. Still only 25, if Newcastle can get Sissoko motivated then he could still turn into the top-class player all Magpies supporters know he could become. Highly-rated in France during his Toulouse days, no big French club had been willing to take a punt on Sissoko until Carr pounced six months earlier than planned - the Magpies were looking to sign him on a free transfer in the summer of 2013 - and brought the midfielder to St James' Park for just £1.5 million. An absolute bargain. Signing Rating: 7.5
