The fact that John Carver will be nowhere to be seen on the touchline at the International Stadium is something that will be much welcomed by the majority of Toon supporters. The final five months of last season were shambolic and Newcastle needed a clean break from that - something they have thankfully delivered on. Steve McClaren, Ian Cathro, Paul Simpson et al will instead be prowling the technical area, urging the Magpies forward against their near-neighbours Gateshead on Friday evening.
