11 Things Newcastle Fans Want To See From Magpies During Gateshead Friendly

7. Siem De Jong Getting Minutes Under His Belt

Alan Pardew intended to mould his entire Newcastle United side around Siem de Jong last season, but things did not work out quite like he would have wanted them to. De Jong succumbed to two serious injuries during his first campaign on Tyneside and managed just four appearances, although he did give some indication of what he could be capable of with a neat finish against Swansea City. It will be great to see a fully-fit De Jong take to the field in Gateshead, trying to urge Newcastle forward with his positivity in possession and his aggressive positioning. What's more, De Jong will also bring some much-needed leadership to a Newcastle side devoid of such an attribute. Gateshead's defence should be petrified - because De Jong will be hungry to impress.
