If Jon Flanagan's "Scouse Cafu" nickname seemed ironic four seasons ago, when he was - albeit without the Brazilian's attacking flair - commanding a regular berth in Brendan Rodgers' title-chasing nearly-men, it's beginning to come off a little cruel now.

A slew of injury troubles in the time since he picked up his first (and only) England cap on the eve of the 2014 World Cup have limited him to just a handful of Liverpool appearances, the last of them coming at the tail-end of the 2015-16 season.

Last term, he endured a difficult loan spell at Burnley, and with the emergence of Trent Alexander-Arnold back at his parent club, it's hard to see a long-term future for a man who once came within touching distance of the Premier League trophy.
