5. FC Groningen v AZ Alkmaar, 2014
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qpk1pL4ZAXc Entering the 2013/14 season of the Dutch Eredvisie, expectations were low for FC Groningen. They had changed their manager at the end of the preceding campaign and now under the stewardship of Erwin van de Looi their pledge was not to target a final position in the league but to play attractive football. Under previous coach Robert Maaskant crowds had dwindled and results had been poor. As a consequence of the disappointing 2013 season, Groningen didn't manage to make any standout signings for the start of the van de Looi era. A good beginning was followed by a poor run of form such that after Christmas they were staring at a probable mid table position. However, the quality the fans had been promised arrived and with results picking up they managed to put together a run of 6 consecutive wins to end the league campaign and qualify for the playoffs. Winning the playoffs seals a berth in the following year's Europa Cup. Groningen FC claimed this spot with an easy finals win over AZ Alkmaar and cued up a momentous charge across the their home pitch.
