Newcastle signed midfielder Scott Parker from Chelsea for £6.5 million in July 2005 and he quickly rose to become Magpies captain. Although he became a source of frustration with a portion of Newcastle fans, Parker did captain the club to the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2006. He scored four goals in 55 league appearances for the Magpies between 2005 and 2007.
In June 2007 West Ham came calling though and Parker moved back to London for £7 million. During four years at the Hammers, Parker established himself in the England team and scored 10 times in 113 league appearances before departing for Tottenham Hotspur in 2011.
