1. Cathro Is Extremely Ambitious... And He Rarely Stays In One Place For Too Long
He's only 28 yet Cathro has already been the head of Dundee United's academy, Rio Ave's assistant boss, as well as the No 2 at Valencia - and now he is going to become Steve McClaren's deputy at Newcastle United. It is fair to say that Cathro is "nomadic". He doesn't stay in any one place for too long; always eager to take on the next challenge and to progress himself further by exploring new horizons. Cathro wants to be a manager in his own right one day, of that there is no doubt. He has made that clear - this is a man with serious ambitions. During an interview in 2014, he explained how he sees things progressing over the next few years:
"The two things I will need are a full pre-season to get my ideas across and to be somewhere where English is the first language. "I can express myself confidently in Portuguese and I'm getting better with Spanish, but if I'm going to be in charge, I need to be able to communicate properly."
He's now at a club in England where everyone speaks his first language. Could we be looking at Steve McClaren's successor-in-waiting? For all the latest NUFC News, Views and Transfers make sure to follow whatculture.com/NUFC on Twitter and Facebook.
