John Terry signed a new 12-month contract to extend his 16-year stay at Chelsea earlier this summer and could go on to become one of the highest-paid Premier League defenders, despite the fact he's 33. The former England captain stays on at the club despite fellow veterans Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard being moved on and will continue to receive a "basic" salary of £175k-a-week, according to the Guardian. However, his new contract includes "performance incentive bonuses" meaning that, should the centre-half make a set number of appearances, his weekly-wage packet could soar toward £200,000-a-week. Though some might scoff at Chelsea paying such inordinate wages to a player of Terry's age, others will argue he deserves the generous pay considering he has given his entire playing career to the club, aside from spending his youth at West Ham United's academy as well as a spell on loan at Nottingham Forest.
