16 Reasons Why Newcastle Have Gone From Mid-Table Mediocrity To Relegation Fodder
11. An Inability To Simply Put The Ball Into The Back Of The Opposition's Net
Newcastle have scored just 38 goals all season, barely more than one a game - but that record has been even worse under John Carver. In the 18 games since the turn of the year, Newcastle have scored just 16 goals - and they have drawn a blank on seven occasions, almost every other match. Without Cisse, Newcastle cannot score goals - and that is highlighted most by Emmanuel Rivere's woeful form. Since his £6 million move from Monaco, Riviere has scored just one Premier League goal - against Queens Park Rangers last weekend - in 22 appearances, despite playing 1,125 minutes in all. Without scoring goals, you cannot win games - and Newcastle haven't found the back of the net with enough regularity under Carver.
