18 Biggest Newcastle United Villains

17. Jermaine Jenas

Seen as one of England's brightest young talents when Robson plucked Jermaine Jenas from Nottingham Forest and brought him to St James' Park, the midfielder was magnificent for long periods during his 152-appearance stay in the North East. Even made vice-captain once Graeme Souness took over the helm at Newcastle, Jenas did struggle for consistency during his last two seasons with the Magpies as the goals began to dry up - but it was his parting shot when leaving St James' that ensured he is not welcome at Newcastle-supporting households. Just before signing for Tottenham Hotspur on transfer deadline day in August 2005, Jenas compared life in Newcastle to "living in a goldfish bowl" - something that proud and protective Geordies simply cannot countenance. Whenever Jenas returns to St James' Park for his various television punditry appearances, he is welcomed with derision from all four corners of the ground for that remark.
