20 Best Premier League Goals of 2012

18. Adel Taarabt (QPR 1-2 West Ham United)

http://youtu.be/iJj7cxYSJFY Adel Taarabt is a confusing player. All of the ability in the world, but his consistency has always been lacking, and currently QPR need his talents more than ever if they are to have a happy 2013. When Taarabt is on form though, there are very few defenders capable of stopping him. In this match against West Ham, he proved that very point, collecting the ball on the left wing, and not risking passing to any of the other players, Taarabt ran into a central position before letting fly from 25 yards to leave the goalkeeper rooted. Taarabt's performances this season will be key to QPR's struggle for survival, and hopefully he will provide some more goals like this up until the end of the season. Whether that proves to be enough though remains to be seen.

17. Stephane Sessegnon (SUNDERLAND 2-0 Swansea)

Watch more video from the Top Picks channel on Frequency Goals is not something that Sunderland are particularly familiar with this season, but when they do hit the target, they have the players capable of making it spectacular. Stephane Sessegnon is one of those players who provides magical moments every now and again, and against Swansea in January his ability was very apparent when he capped off a great passing move to sweep the ball past the impressive figure of Michel Vorm from a near impossible angle. The amount of bend he managed to produce on his shot was unbelievable, and earnt Sessegnon the first "Goal of the Month" award of 2012, which more than merits his place on this list. Despite this, Sessegnon and his teammates will have to provide a few more goals in order to ensure that they are not dragged into a relegation battle nearing the end of the season.

16. Zoltan Gera (WEST BROM 3-0 Liverpool)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QiHohqOGQcg The first day of the 2012/13 season gave us a "shock" result, as West Brom under new manager Steve Clarke tore apart Liverpool to win 3-0, and the first goal of the strong current regime was scored by the experienced Hungarian Zoltan Gera. Gera had been suffering from numerous injury problems since rejoining West Brom from Fulham, so when the ball bounced towards him following a clearance after a West Brom corner, he took a careful touch to control and reassert his position with a fantastic shot into the top corner from over 20 yards. Arrowing into the goal of the inconsistent Pepe Reina has not been as uncommon a feat as it was a few years ago, but the finish was a special goal for a player looking to keep his fitness and make an impact in the process.
