20 Greatest Kits In Newcastle United History

15. 2004/2005 - Third Kit

Another distinctive Adidas outing, the bright gold kit was originally marketed as the club's European Kit for that season but also made an appearance in a trip to West Brom. A few years before Nike et al would pioneer the idea that away kits should look like reflective hazmat clothing, the gold kit was ahead of its time slightly in terms of vivid colour use. Offset nicely with black shorts and white socks, both of which included the gold in their detailing, the kit was considerably nicer than the swamp-water blue and green change kit. One of the few things worth remembering from Souness's time in charge, it holds fond memories for those who made the long journeys to Tel Aviv, Athens, Herenveen, Piraeus and Lisbon. Well, maybe not Lisbon.
