In season 1960-1961, Glasgow Rangers contested the first ever European Cup Winners Cup Final against Fiorentina. The tie was played out over 2 legs, and the Italian outfit would run out 4-1 winners on aggregate, winning 2-0 at Ibrox and 2-1 in Florence. Rangers didn't really ever come close, but they were still the first ever British side to reach a major European Final, which is certainly something to shout about. The likes of Jim Baxter was in the playing squad, helping make British football history with the name of Rangers. Imagine the scenes if Rangers could have emerged victorious? It would have been insanity, and the club would have created yet more history as a result. It wasn't to be however, but Rangers fans can still shout about reaching a European Final years before Celtic ever could.
