Along with Hampden Park, home of the Scottish national team, Ibrox Stadium is the only ground which can rightly claim to being named a 5-star stadium by UEFA. This means the facilities are world class, both for football and other events. Funnily enough, in the opinion of many, Hampden is a terrible national stadium, the bowl-like structure meaning fans are far away from the pitch in many areas, making it difficult for noise to be created. Ibrox doesn't suffer the same fate, fans are very close to the pitch on all 4 sides, which really helps the famous 'Ibrox Roar' created by the 50,000+ inside the ground when full. Fascinatingly, Ibrox is even classed above Hampden by UEFA's governing body, mainly due to the nicer aesthetic to the ground and the better general facilities on offer. For Celtic fans, this must be a source of frustration, because Celtic Park is not a 5-star stadium, never receiving that particular distinction from UEFA. The capacity is larger, and it is a top facility, but it must irritate the fans of Glasgow's green and white that Rangers still have a higher-classed stadium than they do.
