20 Worst Squads In FIFA World Cup History
14. Bolivia (1950)
As if being in this once wasn’t bad enough, Bolivia managed to fill two consecutive places on it.
The 1950 World Cup was the first tournament to take place following the conclusion of World War 2 and was the first World Cup to go ahead since 1938. In hindsight, allowing this World Cup to go ahead was problematic. Some European nations such as Germany were not allowed to enter for obvious reasons, while other countries such as France and India had to withdraw from the tournament altogether despite qualifying.
Considering France were in the same group as Bolivia, it should have worked as a blessing for Bolivia, who simply had to bag a half decent result in their only game to advance in the tournament. Sadly for them, Uruguay had other ideas. In their maiden appearance at the 1950 World Cup, Bolivia were decimated 0-8 by Uruguay, meaning they somehow secured a -8 goal difference despite only playing 90 minutes of football.
However, Uruguay did go on to become champions after defeating Brazil 2-1 in the final match.
