You know who I'm talking about - those players that United openly were openly interested in signing but decided not to. This weekend it was the turn of Bafétimbi Gomis and André Ayew. How many times has that happened to Newcastle down the years? Yes they both reportedly wanted wages of £100,000... And yes they had only ever played in the French league... But Newcastle United should have signed both Gomis and Ayew. No question. Both players' respective form so far this season proves that. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but the fact that both players didn't demand a transfer fee and were available on a free surely meant that forking out that type of money on their pay packets was justifiable. Newcastle's loss was certainly Swansea's gain on Saturday, and during last week's game against Barclays Premier League champions Chelsea. Both players now have two goals in two games and fantastic performances to back those up so far this season, to the undeniable envy of all those that follow the black and whites...
