3. David Ospina
Themba Hadebe/AP/Press Association ImagesColombia were many peoples dark horses before the tournament began, and the South American side have certainly delivered during this summers World Cup. While James Rodriguez may be taking all the plaudits, the work of their defensive unit should not go unnoticed. They have conceded only two goals in four matches and a lot of the credit for that record should go to their goalkeeper, David Ospina. The 25-year-old has been in superb form in Brazil, displaying a level of maturity and confidence beyond his current age. In the last-16, it may have been Rodriguez who claimed the spotlight with his two brilliant goals, but Uruguay boss
Oscar Tabarez argued that it was Ospina who had thwarted his defeated side. "We had to take risks to reduce the deficit but we came up against a 'keeper who performed extraordinarily well and didn't let us back into the match,"
said Tabarez. Ospina's form during the tournament should come as no real surprise. He conceded the least amount of goals by any South American goalkeeper during World Cup qualifying, and Colombia boss Jose Pekerman continually singled him out for his match-winning displays. Currently plying his trade with Nice in Ligue 1, Ospina would surely be tempted by the prospect of moving to Arsenal. He would provide direct competition for Szczesny, an option Wenger may consider doing if he thinks it is best for the squad.
