2. Keylor Navas
NICK Potts/PA Archive/Press Association ImagesDrawn in a group with England, Italy and Uruguay, there were not many people who predicted that Costa Rica would make it to the knockout rounds, let alone the quarter-finals. But, the minnows have surprised everyone and find themselves 90 minutes away from a semi-final berth. At the heart of Costa Ricas displays have been their incredible work ethic and defensive resilience. They have conceded only two goals during the course of the tournament. An incredible effort when you consider the amount of attacking talent they faced during the group stages. Keylor Navas has been outstanding in goal for Costa Rica and it is no surprise that he is now wanted by a host of clubs. The 27-year-old also shone for Levante last season, helping the side to a top 10 finish in La Liga. Bids are now beginning to come in for Navas, with
Atletico Madrid already having their first offer rejected. The La Liga champions are keen to replace Thibaut Courtois,
who is returning to Chelsea after three years on loan in the Spanish capital. Navas has a
buy-out clause of £7.75 million, an amount Arsenal could easily afford to pay. The worry for Arsenal is that they must act fast if they are to move for the 27-year-old. Atletico Madrid have already shown their interest and it wont be long before someone snaps the goalkeeper up.
