30 Reasons Why Newcastle Fans Are Jealous Of Sunderland
30. Sunderland Won The Last Home Derby
Let's just start with the blatantly obvious ones. Sunderland won the last home derby. 2-1. Even when they were bottom of the league, the Black Cats manage to topple their rivals. Steven Fletcher opened the scoring early on, and Mathieu Debuchy equalised in the second half, but Fabio Borini's late thunderbolt sent Wearside into delirium.
29. Sunderland Humiliated Newcastle 3-0 In 2013
14th April 2013. With Paolo Di Canio in charge, and Danny Graham alone up front, Sunderland looked like a team about to be punished. Little did they know that this would be the start of a new era of Derby Day dominance. Di Canio got his tactics spot on, Graham led the line superbly, and Newcastle were absolutely blown away by three stunning strikes.
28. Then Did It Again In 2014
Sunderland hadn't lost to Newcastle since August 2011. They'd won their last two and were unbeaten in four, but were struggling again in the league when it came to the 2014 matchup. People joked about another 3-0, but nobody thought it would happen again. It did. This time around, it was an even better performance, and from start to finish, Sunderland dominated. Alan Pardew was defeated again.
