4 Strikers That Will Be In Hodgson's Provisional England Squad (And 1 That Definitely Won't)
2. Rickie Lambert
Caps: 4 Goals 2 Is there anyone more deserving of a place in England's World Cup squad than Rickie Lambert? One of a number of Southampton players pushing for a place, the Saints forward was playing League 1 football five years ago. His meteoric rise has coincided with Southampton's return to the Premier League after a number of years in exile. With club team mate Jay Rodriguez out for the rest of the season after rupturing cruciate knee ligaments, Lambert has definitely booked his place to Brazil. At 32 this will be Lambert's one and only chance of representing his country in a World Cup. He will most likely have to settle for a spot on the bench but could prove to be very useful if Hodgson's men are faced with another dreaded penalty shoot out. His penalty taking record is legendary; he has not missed from the spot in over 30 attempts for Southampton.
