4 Tense Fixtures For Newcastle United To Save Themselves

4. Leicester City - Away (May 2nd)

First up for John Carver's men is a trip to Leicester City - the one side (other than Sunderland, or arguably Chelsea) Newcastle United do not want to face right now. The last four matches has seen Leicester pick up 12 points with impressive victories over West Ham United, West Bromwich Albion, Swansea City and Burnley - while Newcastle have picked up precisely zero points in the same period. In fact, Newcastle's barren run stretches back all the way to February 28th, while Leicester have finally started finding the results their impressive performances have warranted since Christmas. Former Magpies assistant boss Nigel Pearson has talked up his side's chances all campaign and - aside from his odd rushes of blood to the head on the touchline, with his altercation with James McArthur on the touchline one prime example of this - Leicester have performed admirably. They have pace on the wings with Jeff Schlupp and Riyad Mahrez, and in Esteban Cambiasso they have a battle-hardened and experienced midfield general. Most importantly - and most worryingly from a Newcastle point of view - however is the fact that the Foxes are scoring goals for fun right now. Andy King, Leonardo Ulloa, Jamie Vardy and David Nugent have all started finding the back of the net recently - while in Andrej KramariĀ‡ they have a player with proven goal-scoring ability. The Magpies, meanwhile, have just scored just four in their last six games - so should they go behind at the King Power Stadium then alarm bells should start ringing. Verdict: Heavy away defeat - probably 3-1 or 4-1. Leicester are currently a team full of confidence, purpose, togetherness and, most importantly, goals - all things for which Newcastle are severely lacking right now.
