5 Heroes (And 5 Villains) From Portland Timbers 2 4-3 Newcastle

4. Freddie Woodman

Another half-time replacement at Providence Park, 18-year-old Woodman showed exactly why he is so highly rated among the St James' Park hierarchy as he made a string of impressive saves. Far more assertive at coming for crosses from set-pieces than Karl Darlow had been in the first-half, Woodman offered greater reassurance to his struggling back four as their lack of height really worked against Newcastle when the ball was played in the air. The young stopper, who is attracting interest from Crystal Palace, could do nothing about the fourth goal that the Magpies conceded - and he didn't put a single foot wrong throughout the whole of the second-half. Certainly one for the future.
