He was arguably Manchester United's best signing in Louis Van Gaal's summer overhaul. In the absence of Michael Carrick, he has been the only player to provide any kind of balance to United's midfield, providing the base which has granted their multi-talented attack freedom to play. His versatility has been invaluable also as he can cover at centre-back, left-back and left wing-back. This is the kind of player Arsenal require to balance out their creatively talented midfield as the Gunners are often left susceptible to the counter attack but Blind is a player that specialises in breaking those up. Although Arsenal have rediscovered a player in Francis Coquelin who has performed admirably in the holding midfield role, racking up some impressive statistics as the season unravels, Blind still just about edges him out.
