5 Most Surprising Football Transfer Stories Of 2013/2014

3. Manchester United€™s Lack Of Activity

David Moyes€™s reign at United has been marked by a surprising inactivity in the transfer market. Nobody has left (other than Scholes retiring), and almost nobody has been brought in (other than a 20-year-old right back). This, despite the rampant rumors that Wayne Rooney will be leaving for Chelsea, and that Cesc Fabregas will be arriving from Barcelona. While Moyes may be interested in Fabregas, I don€™t believe that Barca would let him go €“ I think they€™ll need him this year, as Xavi is one year older, and Fabregas could be a long-term replacement for him, slotting into a deep playmaker role. I€™ve heard the latest rumors about Man. Utd. attempting a deal for both Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines. That will be a difficult dal to pull off, but it makes sense, given the success that Moyes had with both of those players. I expect Man Utd. to do something in the transfer market soon, but it has been surprising that, while their City rivals have added 4 big-name players, Moyes has not made his mark on the club.
