loan move from Madrid to Manchester United fell through. David Moyes may well try to sign him again in January as a
new left back is among his priorities. Linked with Chelsea in the past given the steady stream of Portuguese stars that have joined the club during Mourinho's first spell,
Coentrao is now a target for Tottenham Hotspur managed by the protégé of the Special One Andre Villas-Boas. AVB and Spurs have problems at left back. Danny Rose, who returned to White Hart Lane this summer after an impressive loan spell at Sunderand last term, has a foot injury keeping him out. Deputy Kyle Naughton is also on the treatment table, leaving the impressive Jan Vertonghen covering a role the Belgian told the Metro he finds frustrating. United have compatriot Nani on their books and that could sweeten any new attempts by Moyes to bring him to Old Trafford. At Tottenham the player would share nationality with the coach. Either way Coentrao should fancy a January move from Real because Ancelotti is favouring Marcelo instead of him for the left back berth. Portugal have yet to seal World Cup qualification, but should they come through a playoff with Sweden then Coentrao will need first team football in the run-up to the finals in Brazil.
