One very obvious reason why they should concentrate more on a league run than the Champions League is because they have drawn Bayern in the Round of 16. Bayern are the reigning champions of Europe, and are looking to consolidate their claim to be one of the best club sides ever by retaining the title, and if they do they will be the first of the Champions League era to do so since its inception in 1992.
