5 Reasons Ross Barkley Won't Leave Everton For Manchester City

4. Everton Don€™t Need To Sell

The media, and indeed other football clubs, have often regarded to Everton as a selling club. A lack of finances in the most recent past has meant that star players have had to be sold on before new players can be brought in, which is not an ideal situation for any club. That trend arguably started with Wayne Rooney, although the club used the £30 million they gained from Manchester United to turn the clubs€™ fortunes around. Other players who have left have included the likes of Joleon Lescott, Mikel Arteta, Marouane Fellaini and even Jack Rodwell. If there was one thing the club did well though, it was sell these players at a premium price, with the deal for Lescott looking a fabulous sale and the recent departure of Marouane Fellaini seemingly inspired. That is not the case now though, as the recent increased BT TV deal has allowed the club to splash the cash, signing Romelu Lukaku for £28 million from Chelsea this summer in a move which break their record transfer deal. Roberto Martinez has even came out to deny the club are a selling club, insisting at a shareholders meeting that he is under no pressure to cash in on his young talent. The main thing he highlighted is that the club will only sell when it is beneficial to the club, and will never sell in order to pay off debts. Selling Ross Barkley would certainly not be in the best interests of the club now would it?
