5 Tactics For Newcastle United To Beat Everton

5. Counter-Attack With Pace

Bar Nikica Jelavic and Leighton Baines one thing Everton lack is pace. Whilst Jagielka and Distin are strong both under the high ball and in the tackle, Distin isn€™t getting any younger and Jagielka struggles when faced with either guile or speed. Newcastle should look to spring a counter-attack if Everton over-commit themselves, something they€™re likely to do as long as Newcastle don€™t defend too deep and allow themselves to be overrun. New signing Vurnon Anita hasn€™t had a perfect start to life on Tyneside but his talent for the first time pass could be key if the Magpies are to have any joy catching Everton on the break. Although perhaps not confident enough for a starting place expect Pardew to give Gabby Obertan 20-30 minutes at the end of the game (for either Ba or Cisse, whoever isn€™t looking dangerous) to try and stretch Everton€™s defence and therefore give Cabaye and Ben Arfa more room to play in.
