The 19-year-old has made just 15 senior appearances in an Espanyol shirt, yet he is already being touted as one of the next great full-backs emerging in Spain (despite his capability of also operating as a centre-back). For a player who made his debut back in February in the Copa del Rey, it'd be fair to say that Duarte's emergence was one of the quickest and most eye-catching in the country last season.

In what was a relatively-positive season for Espanyol in 2014-15, the Almeria native's showings in the second-half of the campaign were a real cause to signal a brighter future for the Catalan club. Yet within mere weeks of the summer transfer market, large holes have been torn in their squad after a host of key players left through the back door. Sergio Garc'a (Al-Rayyan), Christian Stuani (Middlesbrough), Lucas Vazquez and Kiko Casilla (Real Madrid) all departed within close proximity of one another for bargain-basement prices.

With the exodus taking place, it now leaves Duarte as one of the most-prized assets in the squad, but one who isn't by any means safe in Espanyol's eyes. The fact remains that the club need money to service their debts, and there are few remaining figures who could bring in worthwhile money other than Duarte.
