6 More Films Michael Owen Should Probably Watch

2. The Benchwarmers

Otherwise known as the final couple of years of Owen€™s career: having announced that he was leaving Newcastle in the summer of 2009, the self-promotionalist famously hawked a video brochure of his skills around, and snared himself a move to Man Utd. For some reason Sir Alex saw potential in Owen still and handed him a bumper contract (not enough to save Newcastle from having to pay him £50k for a month AFTER he left the club to make up his decreased wages though). And inevitably, Owen was no more than a bit-part player, reduced to only 31 starts over 3 years before Sir Alex came to his senses and let him leave in summer 2012. From there, he went briefly to Stoke, where he again took up residence on the bench and failed to start a game.
