6 Reasons Why Pardew Will Never Quit Newcastle United

5. He Has Unfinished Business

Despite the well-publicised suggestions that Mike Ashley has no ambition beyond Premier League survival, Pardew himself wants more for his time at Newcastle, and the mask of no ambition does slip occasionally. Even as it looks like Ashley will continue to invest the bare minimum to retain Premier League status, Pardew started this season with suggestions that he expected his team to challenge for the Champions League soon. Foolish in hindsight, but it paints a picture of a manager who came close to finishing fourth in the league and who has not given up on aspirations to again be considered Manager Of The Year. Pardew thrives on good feeling and adulation, and he's been up there before - even if fans now recognise that in hindsight as over-achievement - and it is very clear from his current demeanour that he wants the fans back on his side, and that the best way he sees that as possible is to push his side up the table.
