6 Reasons Why Pardew Will Never Quit Newcastle United
3. He's Stubborn
Ignoring for a minute what happened at Southampton when Pardew cut a dejected figure hiding from fans in his dug-out in the face of some venomous criticism, the manager has made an image for himself as a resilient man. As protests and criticism have rained down on him in the games since, he has stood on the touch-line, taking it in, and even made the decision to applaud the travelling fans at Stoke on Monday after torrents of abuse. While some might suggest that is a sign of his suitability for a job that is supremely difficult and comes with an even more difficult fan base to please, it is instead just a mark of his stubbornness. There is no way he will walk away now because he has endured what he calls "criticism and mocking of some description or whatever" and sees it as part and parcel of the job. That suggests he genuinely doesn't believe that there's any reason to take heed of what the fans think or want, because there will always be an element of negativity.
