6 Things You Need To Know Before Bellator NYC

4. Douglas Lima Vs. Lorenz Larkin

There's an argument to be made that this fight is the two best fighters in their prime ever matched up together in Bellator. Current welterweight champion Douglas Lima remains one of the most underrated fighters in all of MMA, but he's going to have his hands full keeping his title over the next few months. With Rory MacDonald already confirmed to be taking on the winner, Lima faces Lorenz Larkin at MSG, who is making his Bellator debut after a 4-1 run turned around a fairly lacklustre start to his UFC career.

Recent wins over Jorge Masvidal and Neil Magny seemed like turning points for Larkin, but before he could get close to Tyron Woodley's belt, he opted to pitch up in a top heavy 170 division in Bellator instead. Larkin's potential is finally being realised, and he has a chance to shine on Saturday.

Lima will be no pushover however. He has a fantastic Jiu-Jitsu game, and will likely want to take Larkin down. Larkin has the technique advantage in a stand-up battle, being able to change levels quickly with his varied striking game. He'll have to be careful with Lima on the feet though, as he has the one punch power to end it instantly.

Perhaps the most anticipated fight of the night, the excitement in this division will only grow post-fight with MacDonald just around the corner, eagerly awaiting the winner.
