7 Biggest Conor McGregor Controversies

5. Being Part Of A Pre-Fight Melee At UFC 202

Diaz and McGregor would finally have a chance to fight again with the highly-anticipated rematched booked for the main event of UFC 202. Neither man seemed very interested in waiting that long, however. The disdain between McGregor and Diaz had only grown since the first contest and now involved both men's teams. This, in turn, made the fight more and more compelling for the fans.

The pre-fight press conference for the event ended abruptly when Diaz walked off stage, but the drama didn't end there. As Diaz and his team began to leave the stage, McGregor used his live mic to taunt them.

F*** your whole team, you little crackhead esé. You'll do nothing, You'll do nothing. Shut your mouth you'll do f**king nothing, get the f**k out of here

These words proved highly inflammatory, as just seconds later members of Diaz's 'scrap pack' team such as Nick Diaz, Jake Shields, and Chris Avila started throwing water bottles towards McGregor on the stage.

McGregor wasn't going to take that sitting down.

Unable to ignore the provocation, the Irishman stood up and ignored Dana White's pleas to not retaliate by throwing cans of energy drink towards Diaz's team. The repercussions of the event were huge as McGregor would be seriously reprimanded for the melee.

He was fined $150,000 and made to do 50 hours of community service by the Nevada State Athletic Commission which was later reduced after an appeal. This led to a rift between him and the Nevada State Athletic Commission that lasted until his super-fight with Floyd Mayweather.
