7 Footballers To Play For Both NUFC And Leicester City

2. Danny Simpson

The only player on the list who is still playing, Danny Simpson came up through the ranks at Manchester United but, following loan spells elsewhere, a temporary switch to Newcastle in 2009 kick-started his career. During the Magpies' Championship-winning campaign in 2009-10, Simpson made 39 appearances and scored once - before competing a £750,000 permanent transfer during the January window that season. The industrious right-back then made a further 84 league appearances for the Magpies once they returned to the top flight, including playing a pivotal role as Newcastle finished fifth in 2011-12, narrowly missing out on Champions League football.
After moving to Queens Park Rangers once his contract expired in 2013, Simpson spent a season in west London before joining Leicester last summer. A bit-part player this campaign, the 28-year-old has made 14 Premier League appearances for the Foxes and hopes to ensure they remain in the top flight for longer than a solitary season.
