7 Most Bizarre Injuries Which Kept Footballers Out Of Action

2. Rio Ferdinand

One of England's greatest ever players and Man United legend Rio Ferdinand comes across as quite the intelligent guy these days, with his work on BT Sport often an intriguing watch.

However, the case for intelligence could not be made for Ferdinand back in his Leeds United days. Often the chilled out character both on and off the field, Rio perhaps let himself get a little too relaxed during a game of Pro Evolution Soccer.

Ferdinand managed to keep his leg in the same position without moving it during a prolonged Pro Evo session, only for the muscles in his leg to seize up, resulting in a strained knee tendon for the England man.

The injury would rule Ferdinand out of action for a few weeks and it's safe to say the news did not impress his manager, although his teammates found it highly amusing indeed. A harsh lesson learnt for a young Rio.
