7 Most Ridiculous Spurs Rumours That Never Happened

4. Iain Vigurs To Spurs

One of the most bizarre links to a player Spurs have had in recent years is Iain Vigurs. Then of Ross County - and 24-years-old and uncapped - Vigurs had performed well in his half a season in the Scottish Premier League, having helped the club gain promotion from the second tier. In the winter transfer window two seasons ago, talk of him being at White Hart Lane on deadline day was rife in Scotland, which was just odd. Vigurs himself explains:
Everything that was said during the transfer window was just rumour and speculation. I was just chilling on the couch waiting to see what happened with other transfers. I€™m just happy to play football here. I€™m not really bothered with anything else at the moment, to be honest. There were all sort of stories flying around, obviously. My brother said someone had me at White Hart Lane. I was like €˜What? Was I delivering something?€™ It is funny. It is crazy what rumours go about. It is always good to be talked about but until something is in front of you and done and dusted, you can€™t really say anything. I haven€™t been offered anything yet by the club, but they said they do want me which is always a bonus. I wouldn€™t move just for the sake of it. If I am going to move, it will have to be the right one because Ross County is a great club.
Vigurs went on to play for Motherwell, which shows the level he's actually at and, while he's a decent player in the top tier of Scotland, the fact he was 24 at time and hadn't played at international level for Scotland beyond Under-19 level makes his link to Spurs seem outrageous.
