7 Reasons Why Lebron James Opted Out Of His Miami Heat Contract

5. To Entertain The Idea Of Playing Elsewhere

Just because James can resign with the Miami Heat for more money and years doesn€™t mean that is going to happen. James has the same opportunity he had in 2010 and that is to consider playing for multiple teams around the NBA. In addition to Miami, other teams will either have enough salary cap space or can make some moves to create room for Lebron James. The Houston Rockets need to trade Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin without taking any salaries back in order to sign James. The Chicago Bulls need to trade or amnesty Carlos Boozer in addition to moving some smaller contracts. The Lakers will only have Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash under contract, giving them plenty of money for a max player. James€™ old team the Cavaliers will be well under the cap, as well as the Hornets, Suns and Wizards. How many of these teams James will seriously entertain playing for remains to be seen though. Just because they have the money, doesn't mean James will come playing. The Hornets, Suns and Wizards are certainly not a top team. Not that the Lakers are either after a disappointing season. The Bulls and Rockets are playoff teams, but James has made it to the finals every year with the Miami Heat.
