7 Things Rangers Must Do To Challenge Celtic

4. Instil Passion Into The Players

Ask any season ticket holder at Ibrox one of the core problems they have with the current players and it will boil down to passion. Most of these guys don't look like they know what it means to win. Worse, some of them have won, so names like Lee Wallace should really be leading the way for others. Posted missing more often than not, Wallace is a captain in name only.

Look back to great Rangers squads from the 1970's and 1990's, and it becomes clear that virtually every man in the locker room could have been captain. All of them were willing to lead (and sometimes even bleed) for the cause. Just how many of the current crop would be ready to do the same? The passion just isn't there.

Pedro Caxinha has tried to remedy this by putting up inspirational quotes of historical significance at Ibrox. Whilst that's admirable, it isn't having the desired impact on most of the team. When a Gers great like Ally McCoist scored, you could tell it meant the world to him. That kind of passion didn't only come because he was a boyhood fan either, it came because he learned how much winning meant to the fans.
