8 Everton Players Who Won Trophies After Leaving Goodison
5. Olivier Dacourt
Olivier Dacourt is actually the least successful player to feature on this list, but warrants a mention nonetheless. The Frenchman joined the Blues from Strasbourg in 1998, scoring his first goal for the club in a 5-0 victory over Middlesbrough in February the following year. He quickly became a fan favourite at Goodison Park as a result of his ball playing talents and tenacious style, but that quickly changed following comments made to a French article about wanting to leave. He got his wish, joining RC Lens after just 30 appearances for Everton and one year in England. He later joined Leeds United in a £7.2 million pound deal, and enjoyed his best footballing years in Yorkshire, as the club reached the Champions League semi finals and finished in the top four of the Premier League. Such were the quality of his performances for the club; he quickly became a regular for the French national side at the time. He later joined Roma after falling out with Terry Venables, before moving on to Inter Milan in 2005. Although he was originally signed as a back up player, he became a key player for the Italian side, helping them to win Seria A in the absence of Patrick Vieira. By the time he retired, he had also featured in the 1996 Olympic games for France, as well as appearances in the Confederations Cup and the 2004 European Championships. Not bad for a player who was booed in his final Everton appearance.
